I never thought it was possible, but I did it. I trained while on vacation at the beach. I only got in 3 runs during the week, as opposed to my normal 4, but I was just glad to have done it. Those runs coupled with daily swimming in rough seas made me feel pretty good about this vacation!
Last week’s runs were as follows:
Tuesday: 2.25 miles @ a 13 minute pace.
Friday: 4 miles @ 13 minute pace
Saturday: 3.8 miles @ idk pace because my watch pooped out on me, which left me feeling kind of like this:
My biggest mistake was running all of these runs in the middle of the day. It. Was. Hot. The ocean breeze fooled me into thinking that it was cooler outside than it was. However, once the sun started beating down I could tell I was on the verge of overheating. Luckily, a nice jump in the ocean provided the perfect cool down.
The rest of the week was spent enjoying the glorious beach, snorkeling, a little bit of free diving and plenty of awesome family time. Oh, and beer.
The above picture was not planned. I snapped a selfie trying to get the two of us in it, not knowing my hubs was trying out the new whisky straight from the bottle. Always classy. Here are some shots from a wonderful week away.
